Q: I CANNOT SWITCH ON/OFF THE TORCH IN DEPTH.
A: Since our torch has been developed by a diver and for divers, the main focus has been on reliability and easy control. By switching the torch on before submerging, the user is forced to check its full functionality. This is often forgotten and leads to early abortion of a dive. If used properly the torch allows you to switch it on as deep as approx. – 40 msw (depending on your physical strength, gloves etc.).
It is dangerous to switch off the main torch while diving in depth or darkness. During an ascent, either when already close to the water level or when the visibility is great, it is safe to switch off the torch.
The FINN LIGHT torches have big run-time reserve that exceeds most of thinkable dives. Thus you do not have to hesitate with keeping the torch switched on during the whole dive.
We bare in mind your safety! That is why we strongly recommend to you not to use FINN LIGHT torch as a back-up torch for deep dives. In case of a main torch failure it could be hard or even impossible to switch on the FINN LIGHT torch under hydrostatic pressure!
Q: WHY DON'T YOU USE A MAGNETIC OR OTHER KIND OF A SWITCH?
A: Magnetic relay or switches increase possibility of failure or damage. Yes, our goal has been to develop a torch with high luminous flux. But reliability always was, is and will be at the first place at FINNSUB.COM.
Q: WHY THE TORCH DOESN'T HAVE AN INDICATION OF BATTERY CHARGE? I DON'T KNOW REMAINING RUNTIME DURING DIVING.
A: Due to the natural gradual decrease of capacity of the batteries during their lifetime, the relations for each indication of battery charge level would be changing. Therefore the user would receive inaccurate information for his/her dive planning.
However, if the user follows the recommended rule of recharging the torch after each dive (stated in the user’s guide), he/she significantly increases the lifetime of the battery pack and also will perfectly know the maximum runtime of his/her torch.
Q: IS THE LENGTH OF THE CABLE OF THE LONG VERSION SUFFICIENT? HOW DID YOU DETERMINED IT?
A: Yes, it is the usual length used by most producers.
Q: CAN THE BATTERIES EXPLODE?
A: We use the best quality cell brand in the world – Sanyo. They are stable and safe. In opposition to polymer batteries, our batteries cannot explode in natural environment. As far as they are not exposed to temperature exceeding 180°C (356°F) they cannot explode.
Never throw the batteries into fire!
Q: CAN THE BATTERIES EXPLODE WHEN WATER PENETRATES INSIDE THE BODY OR THE CANISTER?
A: No, not at all. The battery pack can warm up due to short-circuiting of its contacts. Only seawater reacts with Li-Ion batteries - it develops gas. But if water can penetrate to the batteries, obviously the gas can penetrate outside.
Q: WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF FLOODING THE TORCH?
A: In such a case it is essential to disassembly the torch asoon as possible and let it dry out. If this does not happen so, the electro-chemical reaction destroys batteries, electronics and the connector. From that moment on it is necessary to handle the torch as an electronical waste.
To be 100 % sure that it is possible to continue using the torch, it should be sent to authorized service or directly to us for service and possible replacement of damaged parts.
Q: HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO UNSCREW THE HEAD TO BE SURE THAT THE TORCH DOES NEITHER ACCIDENTALLY SWITCHES ON NOR GETS FLOODED?
A: Thanks to the precision manufacturing, it is enough to unscrew one more thread after the light switches off. Yet it is safe for the torch not to get flooded.

A: We provide you with all information that is important for choosing a torch and its correct application. If you miss any closer specification, it is a subject of business confidentiality.
Q: CAN YOU REPLACE THE BATTERIES, THE GLASS OR OTHER PARTS IN CASE I NEED THEM TO?
A: Yes, it is possible to have any part replaced. Just contact an authorized service or us.
Q: HOW TO KEEP THE ACCUMULATOR IN GOOD CONDITION AS LONG AS POSSIBLE?
A: Li-ion batteries don’t have a memory effect. That’s one of the basic characteristics. Manufacturer recommends to charge the accumulator after any usage. No matter if it’s fully discharged or not. That’s the only way to keep the maximum capacity of the accumulator for a long time. You have to avoid any situation when you keep fully discharged accumulator in a frosty environment. For example – You put a discharged accumulator in a trunk of a car after dive and keep it there for the whole night. It will lead almost absolutely to irreversible damage of the accumulator. The time of performance of the light might be significantly reduced by this only one step.
